Q On the syllabus, you will note that we have 5 of these assignments throughout the semester, and although this was initially supposed to be due on September 2, I didn't give you the prompt early enough to expect that from the class. This will be due at the beginning of next week (on Tuesday night so that it's after the Labor Day weekend), so that you can jump on it now, or make it something you save for the weekend, Monday or Tuesday. Our next new content will be uploaded on Tuesday of next week. These assignments are worth 50 points each, & again, as a reminder, your responses here will only be shared with your instructor, not the rest of the class. I do hope to be able to build on this assignment as we explore topics later in the semester, & want to keep the prompt for this first assignment relatively simple. You are to write roughly 500 words (or 1 single-spaced 12pt font page, though you can format however you'd like; single or double-spaced) exploring the following topic: • Who have been your most important teachers up until this point in your life? • What have they taught you? Why is that important? Important Details: You are welcome to explore/write about only 1 individual here and not multiple if you'd like. You are encouraged to explore who you feel are your most important teachers or teacher, & I don't mean that to be just teachers in the school system. If you read the prompt here and think about someone who has been a teacher of yours in the K-12 or college system, that's great, & you can write about them. If you read the prompt here and think about your mom, your abuelo (grandfather), your significant other, an author or content creator or a friend of yours, then write about them. What I'd like us to explore in this assignment is where we feel that we have received our most important education, and what sorts of lessons we've learned. Email me if you have any questions about this or want to discuss it at all. I look forward to reading your responses! PreviousNext

One of a child's most significant influences is their teacher. In addition to instructing and imparting knowledge and wisdom, a teacher also serves as a figure that may encourage and inspire a student both personally and academically. Even though I have a lot of people I would consider my most important teacher, I want to focus on my language arts teacher in particular. While I believe that one can learn a lot in life on one's own and via experiences, a teacher is someone who is constantly on hand to lend a helping hand. My language arts instructor did an exceptional job of imparting faith, igniting my imagination, and cultivating a love of studying.
